Open House London

Deptford is a very neighbourly place, with familiar faces around most corners – friends to visit for a cup of tea – but there are some doors along the streets which tend to remain closed. However, this weekend (21st and 22nd September 2013) that all changes for this year’s London Open House.

Two of Twinkle Park’s closest neighbours are taking part in the event, providing a rare opportunity to see first hand some of Deptford’s most fascinating heritage.

Convoy’s Wharf – the site of Deptford’s historic Royal Dockyard – is open on Saturday, with developer Hutchison Whampoa once again presenting their current plan for developing the site. It’s a plan on a massive scale, and worth coming to see in situ to get an idea of what may become of the area.

Round the corner, at the end of Watergate Street, the Master Shipwright’s House – the remaining intact vestige of the Deptford’s dockyard – is displaying some of the more imaginative plans for Convoy’s Wharf, including Build the Lenox and Sayes Court Garden, and will be firing cannons and creating a merry hubbub – so please pay a visit!
